The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) was incorporated on February 8, 1910. For this reason, most scouting organizations set their February meeting aside to celebrate the anniversary of BSA. Each Cub Scout Pack celebrates this anniversary with their Blue and Gold meeting. There are many different ways to celebrate this anniversary. Some celebrations are as simple as an Ice Cream Social while others are very elaborate catered dinners at a banquet hall.
Our Pack traditionally (at least recent tradition) has had some sort of dinner in the school cafeteria. A few years ago we celebrated with a pot luck dinner. More recently we have had food catered.
Following the dinner we hold the annual Crossover Ceremony. During the Crossover Ceremony we hand out the second year webelos scout's final badges including the Arrow of Light awards, if appropriate. The scouts crossover our bridge and are welcomed into their new Boys Scout troops.
Since it is hard to get all of this accomplished in a reasonable amount of time, our current plan is to do something a little different this year. We are going to separate the two events. We will be holding the Blue & Gold dinner in February. The Crossover Ceremony will be held at our March Pack meeting.
For the Blue & Gold dinner, we will be having food catered in (probably from Ma & Pa's). We hope to line up a special guest that will cap the night off with a bang.
Therefore, we want to invite each scout and their extended families to join us for this Blue and Gold celebration.
